Recycle Bicycles Rolling In!

You won't want to miss what we just rolled in this year!

The S.C.R.A.P. Gallery's second annual Recycle Bicycles returns to the Coachella Valley with its premiere exhibition at the Indian Wells Arts Festival, April 3-5.Recycle Bicycles project is an environmental art experience inviting kids, artists and local residents to submit works for both a traveling and permanent sculpture exhibition. Artists are asked to create unique sculptures using recycled and found items, mainly nonfunctional "old" bicycles.

Works will first be exhibited at the Indian Wells Arts Festival in followed by selected pieces to be exhibited in Cathedral City, Coachella, Palm Desert, La Quinta, Indio and at selected sites during the month of April as part of the Earth Month Coachella Valley. Sculptures will be permanently installed at the S.C.R.A.P. Gallery -The Art Museum for the Environment in Indio.

Last year's 2008 Recycle Bicycles travelled throughout the Coachella Valley, Riverside and San Bernardino Counties. More than 25 bike sculptures were created and are all featured in the S.C.R.A.P. Gallery's 2009 calendar, "Pedal Pushing For The Environment." "
